Lijiang in early December?

Dear Lina

Thank you for your mail recently. We enjoyed our trip to Yunnan a lot. It was a very interesting journey. We were very satisfied with the organisation. Especially our tourguides in Kunming and Lijiang did a great job. They knew a lot about the places we visited and China in generel. They did their best to make the trip very interesting and worthwile. Also our drivers were very well organized. Especially with the one in Dali, who drove us to Lijiang. His car was very well maintained and he drove very secure. One thing we would have liked a little different, were the meals. Mostly we spent them in big tourist restaurants and the food wasn't all too good. We would have liked to order things by ourselves or eat in more individual restaurants. But all in all we had a great trip!

We are thinking of going back to Lijiang with friends of ours, and I would like to ask, whether you can recommend it at this time of the year. I don't know if it's too cold or even have snow at some places. We would be interested in making a hike at the Tiger Leaping Gorge, visit the Lugu Lake and Baishui Terrace, where I think the Mosuo People lives. Can you tell me what the conditions are in the beginning of December, because I have read, that the hiking through the Tiger Leaping Gorge can be dangerous?

I look forward to hear from you. My best greetings. Anne

RE: greetings

Hi Jane, Thanks for writing to follow up on our trip. We had a wonderful time in China !  I have to say that we all were very impressed with the knowledge, professionalism and friendliness of our guides. Our guide in Kunming , Daisy, was particularly committed to making sure we were taken care of and happy. I have a great appreciation for the hard work and dedication they put into their jobs!

There was one area that we felt needed some attention. There were a few occasions when we had to catch an early evening flight and subsequently miss dinner. It was too early to eat dinner before departure, and too late to get dinner after we arrived, as restaurants were closed. This left us buying yogurt at small stands or eating cookies we had purchased earlier. After the third time, we got a bit frustrated. We might recommend that the guide supply the party with a sac dinner. This is a picnic-style dinner where the food can be carried in a bag and either brought onto the airplane and eaten, or eaten at the hotel upon arrival. It might contain bread or rice, a cucumber or piece of fruit, boiled egg, etc. Another suggestion might be to make sure there are restaurants open late and provide the party with a map on how to get there from the hotel.

The hotels were, for the most part, fine. We particularly liked the Sanhe Hotel in Lijiang for its atmosphere and location, and our stay at the Laozhao Family Hostel outside of Yangshuo. For some reason, we stayed at a hotel not on our itinerary on the night of October 17 th . The hotel that we ended up in was not satisfactory. One of the rooms had a bad odor in the bathroom, the beds were not comfortable and the service was not great. I'm sorry that I don't remember the name of the hotel.

The food was excellent! We opted for the Chinese breakfasts most of the time and were very happy with our decision. Sampling the many dishes was a highlight of our trip!

I would also like to thank you, Lina, for paying such close attention to our wants and needs during the planning of our trip. I felt that you were always on top of it and that gave me confidence that I had made the right decision in going with Sinoway Travel. I will certainly think of you in the future if or when I decide to revisit China . Sincerely, Lisa

Re: Greetings from Lina-Sinoway Travel Ref. Code LN-20051014 Monika & Joerg

Dear Foring,
we enjoyed our stay at Guilin. Your guide, Mr. Mo was a perfect guide. He was friendly, polite and we were very satisfied with his expert service.

The accomodations at Foggy Resort and at XingPing were rather "basic" in western standards, but we nevertheless enjoyed every minute of our trip. The highlight of the trip was the hike.

With best regards, J. Wallaschek       Testimonial
